Lady Warriors play shorthanded
The Socorro High Soccer teams went on the road Saturday and came back with victories. The Lady Warriors went to Santa Fe Indian School, whom they had beaten in the Socorro Cup 13-0, with just ten players and after a bit of a slow start came away with a 10-1 victory. Socorro led 4-1 at halftime and posted six more goals in the second half to cruise to a comfortable win. The Lady Warriors are now 6-2 on the season and will play Bernalillo at home on Thursday September 8th for their next outing.
The Warriors traveled to Robertson where they earned their seventh victory of the season against only one loss by scoring 2 goals in each half while shutting out the Cardinals. Ryan Botko led the Warrior scoring with a goal and an assist while Kol Fuierer, Elijah Molina, and Carlos Benavidez also added goals for the Warriors. Goalie Devon Webb had 11 saves in securing the shutout victory for the Warriors. The Warriors are next in action on Tuesday when they will travel to St. Michael’s for a 4 p.m. varsity start followed by a 6 p.m. JV game. The JV team also came away with a 9-0 win at Robertson on Saturday.
